Southampton Solent University traces its origins to a private School of Art founded in 1855/1856, which later merged with colleges of technology and maritime studies to form the foundation of the institution. The University gained full university status in July 2005. Located in the city of Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom, it offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and prides itself on its applied teaching and industry-focused approach.
